Designed and created the finale of a promenade performance titled 'Away with the Circus' at the Royal Albert Hall, alongside the halls then current show, Cirque De Soleil.
As part of a project on my 'Performance Design' course at university we were given the chance to build unique performances in the Royal Albert Hall. I had the challenge of set dressing the main foyer to include a live band, a stilt walker and a 'flee circus' performance by 'Drama Centre London' acting students. I then had to create my own performance on the merchandise stand to end the whole show, I called this 'Going out with a Bang'.
Dressed up in a suit and top hat, my assistant and I welcomed the audience down the stairs in an outgoing manner, offering them popcorn and marshmallows in cupcake wrappers. We then inflated balloons filled with glitter and popcorn, and burst these over the audience. This created a mini firework-like display and released a buttery popcorn smell. I also handed out popcorn wrapped in tissue paper with gold ribbon as a token of the show.
There were 12 shows over the course of the day.
